In June I met with the district supervisor for Special Education, Jane Eyler, to discuss strategies to be utilized in both my reading strategies class along with the strategies I shared with Barb Kingsley at the High School. Among the theories discussed were Strategies that Work by Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis; Reciprocal Teaching by Palinscar and Brown; Content Area Literacy by Alvermann, Phelps, and Ridgeway; Countent Literacy for Today's Adolescents by Brozo and Simpson, Improving Adolescent Literacy by Pearson; utilizing Words Their Way by Pearson; along with the use of Corrective Reading in the classroom.
